The newly erected and attention-grabbing six-storey building located at Camp and Lamaha Streets, Georgetown, is now home to an events centre, operated under the New Thriving brand.
Following last Saturday’s launch, members of the public can now start booking for their events.
During a brief opening and media tour, New Thriving’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Feliz Robertson, disclosed that the management has signed on to a ten-year contract with the owners of the building, and should all go well, this will be further extended.
“Our plans include a restaurant on the ground floor, a Chinese Tea Bar, Boutique and Spa and to a large extent, our unique hotel which will occupy three floors of the building,” she explained.
The launching of the Hotel and restaurant will be done some time early next year, Robertson added.
The PRO announced that as a Christmas offer, the entity will allow the hosting of any event at the facility free of cost until January, as long as persons appoint the New Thriving Chinese Restaurant to cater the food for their event.
Robertson told reporters that the new establishment would raise the profile of New Thriving, as it would be the first full-fledged Chinese Boutique Hotel to be rooted in Guyana’s Hospitality Sector.
While Guyanese will be employed at the events centre, Robertson noted that management has not disclosed what positions these employees will hold.
She further indicated that New Thriving has reserved the right to hire whomever it wishes.
The Public Relations Officer said that currently, the manager of the entity is a Chinese-Guyanese.
