Courts Pee Wee Football entering exciting phase -Eight games on today
With defending champions Marian Academy back to winning ways, this year’s Petra Organisation / Courts Pee Wee Schools Football Competition seems to warming up for an exciting showdown between the current unbeaten teams and those now rounding into form.
Play in the competition resumes today with eight matches, at the Thirst Park ground, starting from 10:00 hrs.
In the two opening fixtures, unbeaten St Pius will look to preserve their record when they face Ketley and that will be played simultaneously with the clash between F. E. Pollard and the improving Marian Academy.
(Flashback)- Some of the action that was witnessed in last week’s round of the Courts Pee Wee Schools Football Competition.
Commencing at 11:00 hrs will be West Ruimveldt versus St Ambrose, while North Georgetown play St Gabriel’s.
At 12:00 hrs, St Margaret’s square off against South Ruimveldt and Redeemer Primary will look to halt the winning streak of the East La Penitence Primary who are yet to drop points in the competition.
In the final round of matches for the day at 13:00 hrs, Enterprise engage St Stephen’s and Tucville take on J.E. Burnham.
The St. Pius versus Ketley matchup should see the former emerge victorious against a team that has played inconsistent thus far and keeping out the prolific Bevney Mark will be no easy task for the Charlestown unit backline.
He is expected to receive support from Kamacy Davis, who also appears to have adjusted to his role as the other member of the lethal strike force.
Ketley, a very good side has not lived up to expectations, and dropped valuable points last week in their loss to F. E. Pollard so definitely winning will be their preoccupation heading into today’s fixture.
F. E. Pollard, victorious last week, have an anticipated uphill struggle against title holders Marian Academy and this encounter should be a bruising affair with both sides in good form.
Quincy Williams, Makhaiya Jervis, Tramel McCurdy and Cordell Charles were the players on target last week for F.E. Pollard and they are expected to feature once again, while Marian’s quest for victory will rest entirely on the shoulders of Demetrius DeAbreu, who booted in a treble in their previous encounter.
West Ruimveldt did not look that impressive in their clash against St. Gabriel’s but still managed to secure full points and they will need to improve a lot to stave off the rampant Jermaine Padmore and St. Ambrose who played to an impressive 3-all draw against St. Margaret’s last week.
The other matches should all be interesting affairs and fans, parents and members of the corporate community are being urged to come out and witness the future stars in the sport compete against each other.
