Dear Editor,
For the past 15 years I have been a staunch supporter of the ruling party with my membership card being up to date, but the ugly manner in which I was treated by a Government Minister leaves much to be desired.
Despite of my attachment, I was not looking forward for special treatment in my bid to discuss a problem facing me with the Minister while he was at the office in Region Two last Wednesday (2013-10-03).
After waiting for three hours, information reached me that the Minister who was engaged in a meeting there would not be available until 13:00 hours.
At the conclusion of the meeting, I approached the Minister and explained to him the reason for being there but he abruptly responded “I can’t listen to you now. l an going for lunch” without giving an indication as to when it would be possible to reach him.
In pleading with the Minister that I had been waiting for three hours and please give me a hearing for just a few minutes as I was already late to go back to work, he kept walking away, for me to suffer much embarrassment and humiliation.
The problem that faces me has been engaging the attention of the Suddie ROC for some 13 years without a solution in a simple matter where some overgrown fruit tree branches from a neighbour’s yard continue not only to be a nuisance by dragging on my house roof but a health hazard in the contamination of drinking rainfall water.
Only a matter of time will tell that the shabby treatment meted out to me by the Minister will do more harm than good to the party. Dhananjai Lall
