Diane Gibson walked away from a competitive field to cart off the spoils when the recently inaugurated Taurus Women’s Club of Melanie Damishana (TTWC), in association with the Cavalier Sports and Tour Club (CS&TC), staged a 10K race walk for women, Sunday October 6 last.Activities got underway at the President’s College ECD at 6:00hs and proceeded to the Golden Grove Market, before the walkers turned around for the finish at the place of origin. Denise Gibson came in second while Ruth Wilson closed off the podium spots; Sharon Moffat finished fourth.USA based Guyanese, Andrew Wilson, donated monetary prizes for the top finishers and further committed to future support towards the development of the sport.The club has planned its second event, another 10K walk around the Melanie Damishana community on Sunday October 13, starting and ending at Wilson’s Residence on the Main Road.Later on that very day the club will host the Children’s Day of Sports at the Community Centre Ground.
