Dear Editor,
Quite recently, there has been a host of articles published about the successes of the Ministry of Health. However, what I find most amusing is the article in today’s Stabroek News which shows a photo of the Cuban doctors mopping the floor at the East Bank Demerara Regional Hospital. What is so remarkable about that? This was such a staged piece for the cameras!
On a serious note, reporters need to delve deeper – question how many cases were treated at the ICU at that Hospital. The answer, if truthful, should cause eyebrows to raise. The Diamond facility should e re-labelled as just a transit centre where patients go just to be referred.
In future, the Parliamentary Committee should make unannounced visits and face the true picture of what obtains at that Institution. If they do not do it that way then they are failing the people by being party to this standard betrayal.
Totop off my comments, Editor, I must say that the Ministry of Health under the current management is way off the trail. The only people will suffer from this are the poor because those in high offices travel overseas for their medical interventions. Candida
