Jairam topples Simon at Draughts

Jairam defeated Carlton Simon to win the Marlon Harris and Gentle Elias sponsored Draughts competition which was contested last Sunday at the National Gymnasium on the 100 square boards. Jairam scored 12 points while Simon managed 10. Floyd Cumberbatch mustered 7 points to scrape home for a close third ahead of Mark Brathwaite who claimed fourth. Speaking at a simple ceremony, President of the Guyana Draughts Association, Jairam, thanked the sponsors and said that the will now be seeking sponsorship for the National Championship games in September.
