Suspect in North West shooting death reportedly found hanging

A suspect in the shooting death of gold miner Randy Raphael has been found dead, the victim of an apparent suicide, sources from the Bruck Up Landing, North West District location said yesterday.Kaieteur News was told that the victim, identified as Trevor La Rose, was found hanging on Saturday, some hours after Raphael’s body was found. According to reports, the suspect had fled the area after Rafael was slain, but residents in the area had been hot on his trail.
A police release said that Rafael’s body was found in a hammock after police ranks from Yarakita, acting on information, visited the area. He had been shot in the head.While police gave no motive for the killing, Kaieteur News was told that Rafael was slain by another miner with whom he had an altercation. According to reports out of the area, on Friday night, Raphael had told some other miners that he had seen the suspect fitting together a makeshift firearm.Meanwhile, the body of yet another gold miner has been recovered by the police in the interior, this time at Imbamadai.Police said that at about 07:30 hours yesterday the body of 48 year old Robert Hunter of Paratown Settlement, Imbaimadai, was found along a trail at Imbaimadai with suspected stab wounds to the neck and chest.The police said that their investigations have so far revealed that Hunter had earlier been involved in an argument over alcohol with a man at a night spot while they were imbibing.
The man has been arrested and is assisting with the investigations.Meanwhile, police are still investigating the death of Titus Daniels, whose body was bought from the border village of “Mundo” in Venezuela, on Saturday.Police said that investigations revealed that Daniels, a miner of Yarakita, was fatally stabbed to his back by another Guyanese miner during an altercation at Mundo. Kaieteur News was told that both Daniels and his assailant were consuming alcohol at the time. The release stated that other Guyanese miners arrested the suspect and brought Daniels’s body to Guyana.
