Toddler dies in freak minibus mishap

Twenty-one month-old  Celine  Silvina  Wilkinson  tragically  perished  in  a freak minibus  mishap  yesterday  at  around  18:00hrs  in  the  Agatash  community, some  three  miles  away  from  Bartica.
The child’s parents, Andrew  Wilkinson, 27,  and  Otana  Savory-Wilkinson, 19,  and  another sibling had  just  arrived  at their  destination  in  Agatash  from  Bartica by  minibus when the tragedy  occurred as the family  disembarked from the  vehicle. The  father reportedly decided to   put  little  Celine  on  the  ground in  an  effort to  take  money  out  from  his  pants pocket to  pay  the  bus  fare  when  the  toddler  quickly  found  herself  under  the  back  wheel of the bus, which moved off, crushing her.
She  was  rushed  to  the  Bartica  Hospital with  blood  oozing  from  her  nostrils  and  was  pronounced  dead  on  arrival. The driver is assisting the Bartica Police with investigations (Edward A. Persaud)
