The man who allegedly slashed the throat of a peacemaker in the presence of police last month is expected to appear in court today.
The suspect had gone into hiding after allegedly killing 20-year-old Sulé Brian Assanah on October 7 at the corner of Fourth and Light Streets, Alberttown.
However, he was arrested last week in the compound of the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission, while attempting to obtain a document to go to the interior.
It is alleged that on October 7, a woman made a report at the Alberttown Police Station that the same individual was threatening to kill her.
Shortly after a policeman received word that the suspect was in the Alberttown area and that he was armed with a knife.
However, the policeman was allegedly threatened when he went to arrest the suspect, and Assanah, who was nearby, attempted to persuade the man to cooperate.
It was then that the suspect allegedly drew a large knife and slashed Assanah on the throat before escaping on a bicycle.
