– Golfers to play for charities of their choice
The 15th Annual Scotiabank Golf Tournament tees off tomorrow at the

Lusignan Golf Course with the country’s top players playing for cash prizes that will be handed out to a charity of their choice.
“This year Scotiabank has added exciting and charitable elements to the event–each golfer has to select a children’s charity that they will play for,” a release handed out at a presentation ceremony yesterday stated.
In addition to the usual trophies and prizes, the top three golfers will win cash donations of $150,000, $100,000 and $75,000 towards their chosen charities.
Scotiabank’s Country Manager, Amanda St. Aubyn said that the company was continuing its corporate and philanthropic role in society with the initiative.
“Under our Bright Future Programme, we channel funds and employee volunteer hours towards initiatives that benefit children in the areas of education, health, social well¬being and sports,” St. Aubyn said in the circular.
“This addition to our golf sponsorship is an attempt to encourage our stakeholders to be as passionate as we are about giving our children a bright future and hopefully we will see this passion manifest itself on the golf course,” St. Aubyn continued.
Scotiabank will be asking all golfers to indicate at the time of registration, which charity that benefits children they will be representing.
The release said that Scotiabank is a leader internationally, and among Canadian corporations for charitable donations and philanthropic activities.
As a result, Scotiabank has provided approximately CDN$45 million annually to community causes around the world over each of the last five years.
The Scotiabank Bright Future programme is the bank’s global philanthropic programme, which brings together all of the bank’s charitable, social and community efforts and employee volunteerism under one banner.
