Dear Editor,
Permit me to highlight and query a situation which exists in the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) which in the absence of a statement from the NIS is viewed as an unfair and discriminatory.
The quantum of pension received by pensioners of the NIS is based on an individual contribution (among other factors). So why then has the NIS seen it fit to award an increase in monthly pensions from January 1, 2012 to old age and invalidity pensioners who are in receipt of the minimum rate?
Don’t the other pensioners also have to purchase their own medication, since the NIS has stopped supplying some, and to survive, NOT LIVE, under some difficult economic circumstances?
Can NIS please correct this unfair and discriminatory situation promptly? Concerned pensioner
