Jailall Chandilall of Woodley Park Young Strikers became the latest centurion of the 2011 New Building Society Second Division cricket competition in Berbice when he slammed a quick fire 131 against Sundown of Cotton Tree.
Chandilall took just 40 balls hitting 10 fours and 11 huge sixes, over one hundred of his runs coming in boundaries. His score tied with Rose Hall Town Bakewell batsman Jason Sinclair’s 131 not out against Nigg Intruders for the highest individual score in the competition so far. Chandilall’s effort saw Woodley Park posting 264 for 4 in 30 overs. Sundown made a gallant effort to overhaul the target led Nash Gafoor’s robust 96 but in the end it was not enough as they fell 20 runs short of the target.
Other batsmen scoring half centuries in the latest round of matches were David Looknauth of Celebrity Times and Dwayne Crandon of Courtland All Star.
