Dear Sir,
I have been a member of New Building Society for 37 years and must know why the silence of the NBS Directors and the DPP Mrs. Shalimar Hack on the saga with the removal of the three top men of NBS.
It is indeed striking that the DPP does answer all letters about her in the papers but for such a serious allegation from the Guyana Human Rights Association and reports in the papers that these men were charged when there was never evidence, she never provided any.
Further, despite what the magistrate said about the matter, she the DPP never provided any answer in over four years. Madam DPP, you need to tell NBS members and the public why you charged three innocent men. If you cannot provide a proper answer then you must be charged for charging these innocent men.
And what is more striking is the silence of the NBS Directors. Come on Dr Gopaul. I was there at the special meeting on September 8, 2007 when you were shouting to let people feel the men were guilty but the GHRA release stated that the Board knew they were innocent.
In fact, since these men were removed the NBS has not been answering many allegations in the papers about it and it must now not only answer this but all the other ones especially the letter from the former Directors Mr Yhann and Mr Rockliffe (see KN April 25, 2008) who also cited corruption at NBS.
And the NBS must also explain why the men have not been paid and why they have not been reinstated. I ask all NBS members and members of the public to assist me and the Guyana Human Rights for an investigation and for these men to be paid, and also to be reinstated. Cyril Singh
