Chanderpaul, Deonarine included
The National Senior selectors, Coach and Captain of the Guyana National Team met at the GCB boardroom and selected two teams to participate in a practice match at Bourda tomorrow.
This is one of many scheduled practice matches to enhance the player’s preparation for the Regional Super 50 cricket tournament which runs from October 19-29 in Guyana.
Ramnaresh Sarwan, who misses the West Indies tour to Bangladesh due to a recurring back injury, will undergo a fitness test on October 14 is not included in today’s practice match.
Narsingh Deonarine, who was not selected in Guyana’s team because he missed the mandatory fitness test, Shiv Chanderpaul who is unavailable for the competition due to his Test duties in Bangladesh, Test player Travis Dowlin who will replace Sarwan in the squad if he fails a fitness test on October 14 and West Indies under-19 player Chanderpaul Hemraj are all scheduled to participate in tomorrow’s practice match.
Guyana last won a Regional 50-over title in 2005 when they beat Barbados at Bourda in fading light and were beaten in the final at Providence when the competition was last played in Guyana two years ago.
