Stewartville, Pouderoyen, Den Amstel & Uitvlugt to collide
The battle for Under-17 supremacy and bragging rights for the next year will commence today (Saturday) at the Den Amstel Community Centre Ground when the inaugural Trophy Stall sponsored Under-17 League organised by the West Demerara Football Association get underway with a double header.
Seven of the WDFA clubs have registered for this competition which will also see a grand return of competitive football to the association after a very long period of inactivity.
Players, administrators and fans alike are happy that competitive action is once again back on the West Side and have all expressed their gratitude to Mr. Ramesh Sunich, Owner of the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market.
Setting the tone today for the rest of the tournament in a West Bank / West Demerara showdown will be Stewartville and Pouderoyen.
The feature game will bring together arch rival villages Uitvlugt and Den Amstel. Kick off time is 13:00hrs.
The players who are all eager to showcase their talent will also be out to make a name for themselves and respective villages.
Three matches will be contested tomorrow (Sunday) at the same venue beginning at 11:00hrs; Eagles (Stewartville based) will come up against neighbors Uitvlugt in the first game of the day to be followed by a clash between Seawall FC and Wales FC with the main event bringing together Den Amstel and Pouderoyen.
