Roxanne Sahadeo, 28, a married mother of four and a housewife of Lot 4 Section ‘C’ Williamsburg, Corentyne was yesterday remanded to jail by Magistrate Fabayo Azore when she appeared before her at the Albion Magistrate’s Court on a charge of break and enter and larceny.
It is alleged that on December 16, last, the woman broke and entered the dwelling house of Bonita Rajmangal and stole $59,000, property of the said individual.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Satrohan Dayaram, on the day in question Rajmangal had secured her house and went out. Upon her return and subsequent checks she realized that her money was missing. The matter was reported to the police and the accused was arrested. However she was released on station bail and fled the jurisdiction to Suriname before she was arraigned.
Police recently got word that she was back in the country and swooped down and immediately arrested her.
The prosecutor asked that bail be refused due to the fact the crime is a serious one and the woman had previously fled the jurisdiction and only returned after she thought that the matter was forgotten.
