Ronson Williams registered a brace to lead Dare Devils to a 4-0 victory over Paradise Clean Heart when the final of the Mark Sutton seven a side football competition concluded at the Melanie playfield ECD on Sunday afternoon. He received support from Sherman David and Rawle Gittens who scored one goal each.
Paradise Clean Hearts had earned the right to play in the finals after defeating defending champions, Melanie Lions 1-0. The eventual winners had drawn the bye and for their efforts received the winner take all prize of $40,000 and a trophy donated by Ms Lorna Sutton.
Five other teams contested for honours including Go Slow, Gaza Youth, Melanie Lions, Miami North Star, Bare Root, University Youths and Golden Grove.
Meanwhile, spectators were also entertained with a U-13, eleven a side tournament between 4 teams competing for a trophy and $5,000. The first game of this tournament saw Buxton defeating Melanie Silver 2-1 in a penalty shootout, while the losing team rebounded to score a 2-0 victory over Betterverwagting. Odel Gulliver and Alua Israel scored for the winning team. Melanie Gold then waltzed away with the championship honours with a 2-1 victory over Buxton on penalty kicks.
