The development of junior soccer in Guyana received a shot in the arm when Coaches and Goalkeepers of the ScotiaBank/Pepsi School Football Academy benefited from a coaching clinic conducted by two coaches from the United States of America.
The sessions which were held last Monday, at the Ministry of Education ground was conducted by Head Coach of Georgia College and State University Hope Clark along with US Soccer Federation Coach Paul Beresford and they provided theoretical and practical sessions for the 40 participants.
Also assisting were players and Goalkeeper coach of the Golden Jaguars, including current captain for the Barbados 2 game series, England based Christopher Bourne.
The Physical Education teachers, who were trained to be the school coaches were exposed to theoretical and practical demonstrations of coaching, while the Goalkeepers did drills with the national football players then followed by practical demonstrations by Coach Clark who is a specialist Goal Keeper coach.
The last half hour of the two and a half hours session was done in the form of a game where the School coaches and goalkeepers were able to reinforce their newly acquired knowledge.
