Gunshots rang at the corner of James and Hunter Streets, Albouystown yesterday after a lone gunman shot Neshak Bazilio in the chest and escaped.
The injured Bazilio was rushed to Woodlands Hospital where he was admitted.
According to reports, Neshak Bazilio, who was travelling in Toyota Corolla HA, 7638 with his girlfriend, stopped in James Street Albouystown around 17:00 hrs, and after having a conversation with a man at the corner, an altercation ensued over money.
Bazilio reportedly overpowered the man on the corner, and another man on a black motorcycle without number plates rolled up and told the man on the ground to shoot Bazilio. “Boy you taking beat up?”
Then Bazillio jumped into the hire car and the man on the ground who was armed, discharged several rounds after the departing vehicle, shattering the rear windscreen.
However, after the car sped off the scene and proceeded west on James Street, the driver of HA7638 was caught in traffic and stopped at the junction of James and Hunter Streets, Albouystown. The gunman then jumped on the motorcycle as the pillion rider, to give chase and eventually cornered Bazilio where the car had stopped. The man then shot Bazilio in the chest when he exited the vehicle.
Sources disclosed that the men had an altercation over money that was derived from a robbery that both men were a part of. However, there was not an equal share which caused the confrontation.
