Dear Editor,
As a patriotic citizen of Guyana I am very concerned about President Bharrat Jagdeo’s behaviour as he addressed persons perceived to be PPP supporters at the ceremony recently held at State House, Main Street.
I am taken aback by him asking those in attendance to make the right choice and vote for the PPP, while reminding them of the contribution Cheddi and Janet Jagan made in fighting for citizens’s voting rights.
He further went on to remind the gathering that the Presidential Candidate for the PNCR lived in an era when people were locked up for expressing their opinion, and when persons were killed while protecting ballot boxes in the 1973 elections.
But this was not the only instance since he named David Granger at Babu John and stated that “blood was on his hands”, calling on the older citizens to educate the younger ones about such events.
What hypocritical behaviour can this be when he was asking the citizen’s of Buxton to forget what happened and to turn a new page? After the PPP has been in office for 18 years, Jagdeo is on his usual propaganda rampage.
How can people like those in that party be given another five years to continue prostituting our dear Mother Guyana?
They are a lot of visionless people and continue to carry Guyana down a path of destruction.
Mr. President you should be the last person to attempt to assassinate David Granger’s character. Find the murderers of Ronald Waddell, Minister Sash Sawh, informant George Bacchus and the more than 300 Guyanese who were murdered under your presidency. If that’s not blood on your own hands, I don’t know what is.
The PPP regime is noted for quieting citizens by any means necessary when their opinions differ from that of the PPP.
In fact, it was under Jagdeo’s reign that Mark Benschop and Phillip Bynoe were accused of and with treason. Oliver Hinckson was charged for making seditious statements.
Mr. David Granger is a gem, but certainly not in Jagdeo’s kingdom. Further President Jagdeo should take a close look in the mirror before he embarks on character assassination which he seems to find pleasure in doing.
