Coordinator of the Mayor’s Cup Committee, Lennox Arthur, has informed Kaieteur Sport that due to the inclement weather pattern over the past few days, which has left the Georgetown Football Club ground waterlogged, they have had to reschedule the fixtures of the Mayor’s Cup.
Action was cancelled on Friday and yesterday and the fixtures have been re-fixed. The action is set to resume on Friday March 18 and continue on Sunday March 20, Monday March 21, Wednesday March 23 and Friday March 25, with the grand final set for the National Stadium on Sunday March 27.
The matches this Friday will see Santos facing Victoria Kings in the opening contest at 6:00pm, while Alpha tackle BV Triumph in the nightcap at 8:00pm.
On March 20, Camptown clash with Buxton Bakewell and BK Western Tigers oppose Beacon; March 21, Conquerors battle GDF and Pele versus Riddim Squad.
The quarterfinals on March 23 will see the winner of this Friday’s matches meeting in the first game, while the winners of Sunday March 20 games meet in the second game.
The respective victors from the quarterfinals will collide in the semis on Friday March 25 with the respective winners and losers battling at the Stadium in the final and third place playoff.
One million dollars, $500,000, $250,000 and $100,000 are on offer for the top four teams along with individual rewards for the outstanding performers donated by AH&L Kissoon, Keishar’s and Jailing.
