National junior point guard, Richard Mohandatt showed why he is regarded as one of the most fundamentally sound junior players in Guyana last night when he edged Marlon Pollydore to win the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) Skills Challenge.
Mohandatt completes the final ‘Speed Dribble through Cones’ on his way to winning the YBG Skills Challenge last night at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Mohandatt completed the eight-skills in 16.25 seconds to edge Pollydore, who did his in 16.56 seconds. The two national players had tied for first in the initial round before they faced off in a deciding final round to determine the first and second placing.
The eight skills in the YBG Challenge included two ‘Speed Dribbles through Cones’ on both sides of the court, an Opening Lay-up, Jump Shot from right elbow, Jump Shot from left elbow, Pass and Receive Basketball and a Final Lay-up to finish.
Up to Kaieteur Sport press time, competition was ongoing in the U-16 and U-19 final in the schools’ tournament.
