Dear Editor,
It is most disgraceful that in a country like Guyana we seem to have become a completely lawless society and we have a Minister who was a complete and utter failure in the Foreign Affairs Ministry now running one of the most important Ministries in Guyana and here again he is an even bigger failure.
What is it going to take for President Jagdeo to wake up and for once put the people of this country first? Mr. Editor is it acceptable that we should continue to have daily robberies with guns and murders left right and centre across this country and the President whose Cabinet seems to be appointed for life once they are in there continue to live in some sort of bubble that is somehow different from the average Guyanese citizen.
I urge President Jagdeo to start putting more value on the lives of Guyanese citizens. Mr. Clement Rohee’s crime prevention strategy of using Community Policing groups is the equivalent of using a ladder to get to the moon.
Even more frustrating is it seems the government including Mr. Rohee and Mr. Jagdeo seem to be on the moon when it comes to crime prevention, and protecting the quality of life of our citizens.
Police officers in this country are paid terribly in this country.
When one looks at the cost of living in Guyana with average GPL Bill at $10, 000 per month, Transportation another $15, 000 per month and rent which runs on average another $20,000 per month what are these people expected to eat? What Messrs. Jagdeo and Rohee are doing is forcing our men and women in uniform to be criminals.
This is no way for us to treat our people who are putting their lives on the line for our country daily.
This situation is now completely unacceptable and it is time that the President of this country gets his priorities straight.
This situation is unacceptable and if the people of this country are serious about being fed up with this government they ought to show their frustration at the ballot box and send a strong and clear message to our politicians that we are not going to accept mediocrity and disrespect.
