Brazil’s Dasilva sweeps SA 10km titles
– Forde stumbles at final hurdle in Panama
Colombia’s Jason Gurieneer dipped under 31 minutes to beat Cleveland Forde in the third stage of the IAAF South American 10km Road Race Classic, denting Forde’s dream of becoming the first athlete to win all three stages of the eight-year-old race.
The Colombian ran 30:36 to win the event from Forde, who returned 31:29 for second and hosts, Panama’s Augustuo Alizar, who returned 33:50 for third place.
The other Guyanese on the tour, Dennis Horatio, reportedly took a wrong turn in race.
Brazil’s seasoned campaigner, Antonio Da Silva swept the three-stage race, which usually starts in Guyana, moves to Suriname and ends in Panama, when she won the last stage after winning in Guyana and Suriname respectively last month.
According to a release from Athletic Association of Guyana (AAG), General Secretary, Claude Blackmore, who was on the tour, Dasilva won the race from Panama’s Andrea Ferris and United States of America, Bocadc Bell. He said times were not available.
