Also present at the simple ceremony was Ms. Lisa Foster Administrative Manager and Club President, Marlan Cole.
In her remarks Ms. Weeks stated that Global Technology was pleased to be a part of the tournament yet again, reminding that Global Technology would usually give two young football players the opportunity to complete the diploma program they offer.
This, Ms. Weeks noted would be useful for players during and long after their playing days. Thompson praised the company for their continued support and stated that Fruta Conquerors has an interest in the academic progress of their members and throughout Guyana.
“It is very important for all to understand that playing the game and paying attention to academic progress is vital for the creation of a better society for all.” Thompson declared.

The tournament’s opening game will see West Berbice’ Monedderlust coming up against East Demerara’s Victoria Kings from 18:00hrs.
And Beverage Giants Banks DIH Limited has pledged continued support for the tournament they have supported since its inception.
The organisers said that Banks DIH’s Sales & Marketing Executive Mr. Carlton Joao related that his company is particularly pleased to lend support to the NAMILCO Football Festival since it facilitates the development of the Tucville Community Ground which allows youths in Tucville and its environs the opportunity to be gainfully occupied by playing football on a daily basis, escaping the many ills of society in the process.
Club President Marlan Cole said that the support received from Banks DIH over the years has been invaluable and the Club is proud to be associated with Banks DIH and will maintain a solid relationship.
Sixteen of Guyana’s top football teams will contest this year’s competition with all the games being played at the Tucville Ground from today.
The winner team will walk away with $500,000 while the MVP, best goalkeeper, and the highest goal scorer will receive individual prizes.
Two more teams will walk the plank on Monday when play continues with Alpha ‘The Hammer’ United competing against Upper Demerara’s Milerock and Fruta Conquerors oppose Wet Demerar’s Seawall FC.
