Devonshire Castle defeated Cavaliers by 81 runs in the final of the Norbert Alphonso and Hassan Rahim Memorial 50 over cricket competition played last Sunday at Cavaliers ground in Pomeroon.
Devonshire Castle batted first and managed 230 all out off 35 overs. Anthony Persaud top scored with 35 and Ramesh Narine made 34 as Barry Alphonso claimed 3-30, Jimez Corneluis 2-51 and Andre Rose 2-40.
Cavaliers in their turn at the crease were sent packing for 149 in 29.4 overs. Alphonso returned to hit 47 in a losing effort while Oscar Richmond contributed 26. Darshan Persaud was the main wrecker with eth ball capturing 3-10 and Darshan Lall 2-32 for the winners.
Devonshire Castle took the championship trophy and cash incentive while Cavaliers also received a trophy and cash incentive for their efforts. The competition was sponsored by former Pomeroon Cricket Committee Chairman and businessman Alfro Alphonso on behalf of his late father and father in law Nobert Alponso and Hassan Rahim respectively.
