Corporate support rolls in for table tennis

The Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) was reportedly fuelled with $1.2 million yesterday from the corporate community in aid of their programmes this year.
Foremost, the GTTA will be sending a table tennis team to participate in the Cecil James Open Competition, which will be held in Trinidad and Tobago this weekend.
President of the GTTA, Commissioner of Police, Henry Greene received the donations in his conference room at Police Headquarters, Eve Leary.
Brian Tiwari, BK International (Quarries Division), contributed $500,000, Deonarine Sugrim, Agriparts, donated $500,000 and Mahadeo Umrou on the behalf of Umrou and Sons handed over $250,000.
Speaking on behalf of BK Quarries Inc., Edgar Bazilio told the gathering that his company is very happy to make the presentation to Greene and would like to pledge his company’s support towards the development of table tennis in Guyana.
Bazilio further stated that having the Commissioner in the leadership role will auger well towards the success of the association and wished the Guyanese team well that will be participating in this weekend’s tournament.
Greene thanked the donors for supporting his organisation and praised the wider business community, which has contributed immensely towards the development of the association recently.
