Bartica residents who have complaints about the functioning of the police will get their chance in the coming days to air their views. Chairman of the Police Complaints Authority, former Chancellor of the Judiciary, Cecil Kennard, has announced a two-day visit between October 8 and October 9 to that Region Seven community.
According to the Police Complaints Authority, on Friday, October 8, at 14:00hrs, Justice Kennard will meet with ranks of the Bartica Police Station to “explain his role and functions and to raise with them matters which are of concern to him.”
On the same afternoon, at 17:00hrs, Kennard will also be on Bartica television.
The following day, from 08:30hrs, the Chairman will be at the Winston Miller’s premises at Fourth Avenue to meet with the public.
The authority urged for residents of Region Seven to use the opportunity to meet with Kennard. So far, for the year, the official has visited Anna Regina, New Amsterdam and Linden. There are plans to visit Mahdia, Lethem, Mabaruma and Port Kaituma shortly, the body said in a press statement.
