Twenty-eight year-old Andrew Simon of 34 Collins Street, Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara succumbed at 20:00 hrs on Wednesday night at the Georgetown Public Hospital, after he was gravely injured, following an accident on Saturday last at Strathspey, also on the East Coast of Demerara.
Relatives of the dead man told this publication that Simon was hurled from the bus, which subsequently collapsed on him, pinning him to the ground. He suffered severe spinal, leg and neck injuries.
The victim’s mother, Gladys Simon is contending that her son has lost his life, because of the negligence of the bus driver, who she claimed was speeding.
Kaieteur News was told that a black motor vehicle was attempting to overtake the minibus on the turn at Strathspey, when the bus driver lost control of his vehicle in an attempt to avoid a collision with an oncoming vehicle
Seven other passengers, including the driver of minibus BHH 4356, were injured, they include Orin Vaughn, the driver; James Porter, Derrick Edmondson, Pamela Primo, Wenda Mc Pherson, Deon Bristol and Mona Gittens.
