A security guard attached to the Bakewell factory at Triumph on East Coast Demerara is no longer in police custody.
The guard was released on Friday, a day after the fatal shooting of 39-year-old Omo Caesar.
Caesar, of Beterverwagting, collapsed and died in an alleyway, a short distance from the bakery, still clutching the two loaves of bread he had stolen.
Eyewitnesses said that Caesar, a career thief, had been frequenting the facility on several occasions and was even caught on camera, stealing the company’s property.
Earlier on Thursday, he was released from police custody and he apparently could not wait to get back to his chosen profession. This time he was not so lucky.
Police sources on East Coast Demerara have indicated that they are in the process of preparing a report which will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecution for advice on what action should be taken.
