New face in the Group 3 category, former rookie champion Ryon Gayadin believes that his chances are as good as any of the other drivers even though moving to the bigger division will provide a stiffer challenge.
The young Gayadin, who will be competing against his brother Gavin and other formidable drivers such as current champion Ryan Rahaman, Ravi Singh, Kamal Seebarran and Kem Lall is confident that he could do well against his more established opponents come July 18 when the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club holds its Race Meet, at the South Dakota Circuit.
Gayadin, who will be driving his recently-acquired Mazda RX7 machine which was previously owned by Mark Vieira, said that his ascension to the higher category is all part of his growing confidence and is not intimidated, but rather feels that he could mix it up with the ‘big’ boys.
Another reason he offered was that there is always the constant challenge to strive for higher achievements.
“I know it is not going to be easy, those guys are very experienced, but having said that I made this investment not to merely compete, but to challenge the more seasoned drivers in the division,” Gayadin disclosed.
He, however, did admit that the car is new to him and obviously it will take some time for him to get accustomed to it.
“I know that the races will be competitive, but everybody facing the starter’s flag have an equal chance so I’m urging fans to come to the Circuit on July 18 and witness a day of exhilarating driving among the best drivers locally.”
The bespectacled driver said that the word emanating among the motor racing fraternity is that many of the competitors are pulling out all the stops to be very competitive and it shows that the sport continues to grow at an alarming rate. “I would say that preparations for the upcoming Meet have been fantastic and I must say that I’m satisfied,” he added.
