Dear Editor,
I like metem and often buy the fish and provision at the Mon Repos market.
More often than not I buy my root vegetables from a stall managed by a lad who can’t be more than 10 years old. Once when he was struggling to calculate my change I asked him why he was not at school where he could at least learn to add and subtract (hopefully). He said that he had to work.
Usually I go to the market between 10 and 11 am on weekdays except Fridays and my ground provision boy is almost always there. Can this be the tip of the iceberg? F. Hamley Case
