Dear Sir,
While reading Kaieteur News dated 21st June 2010, I was arrested by a letter written by Sasenarine Singh entitled “Open letter to the PNC leadership”. Let me hasten to say that I am no political activist.
I am a simple die-hard Guyanese, longing to see a country in which each citizen, be he red, yellow, black or white, is treated with fairness and dignity; I long to see a country that my parents, now dead, would be proud of.
I have no idea who the writer is, but I could hear the cries of his heart.
He carefully and in an unbiased manner analysed the Guyana situation and came to the conclusion that I myself had come to some time ago…that Major General ret’d. Joe Singh fits the bill! When I think of Major General ret’d. Joe Singh, I think of a truly intelligent gentleman with excellent leadership capabilities; someone with an unblemished record; one who has the interest of this country at heart; one who is fair in his dealings with others regardless of their race, colour or creed. If I had any say in this matter I would support his candidacy as leader of a Guyana People’s Partnership 101 per cent.
I have no personal agenda. I am no longer a part of “the system” so I am neither waiting for confirmation, looking for promotion, or anxious about being sidelined or bypassed. I’m just a heart crying out for my lovely native land!
This is no time for narrow and selfish political mileage. Our children must be rescued now!
The blood of our children cries out from the ground!! And when you dare to raise your pained voice in anguish, or seek to identify with the struggle you are victimized. IS ANYONE HEARING?
The well qualified cannot find jobs (I know what I am talking about!), while misfits are rewarded with contracts!
Let us put aside our fears and partisan politics, sharpen our God-given minds, wield the sword of truth, love each other despite our differences, and welcome an era where there is accountability, justice and the fear of God.
