Dear Editor,
I wish to alert the entire country and more so, the leadership, members, and supporters of the Peoples National Congress Reform (PNCR) of a sinister plot by a disgruntled few to cripple the party.
This group has recently been parading in the United States, where I reside, and Canada, to garner support for their mission.
What is unfortunate is that the group is using the party’s name to host activities and promote programmes to work against the interest of the said party they are claiming to support, or have an interest to govern.
These people and their co-sponsors have designed several strategies to attempt to derail the efforts of the PNCR.
For a few dollars, for selfish aggrandizement, for the love of power, the orchestrators have decided to unleash all their venom towards the PNCR leadership and the party.
Their planned line of attack as they put it is to launch an attack on the leader of the PNCR, Robert Corbin, by denigrating his character, advancing preposterous claims and waging a battle against his leadership.
According to them the mission must be a multi-prong attack, to, as they put it to “bring Corbin to his knees” and at the same time to project the PNCR as an unfit party.
But for the love of power this bunch has committed to a plan to derail any effort of the PNCR to advance the causes of the Guyanese people.
They have also committed to even making serious and dangerous accusation against Robert Corbin, without even considering the risk of a law suit.
They tell their fans in the U.S, where they visited recently, that Robert Corbin have agreed to accept some position with the PPP/C government.
What blatant lie! They forget that this kind of preposterous act on their part is nothing new.
It was this same group that used me, Ian Williams, to bring a motion on the congress floor in 2000, to depose the then party leader, Hugh Desmond Hoyte.
Yes the infamous “successor leader” motion. I am quite sure they remember what happened and how that motion was defeated. I subsequently apologised to Hugh Desmond Hoyte after I realised that I was being used to advance some people’s selfish desires.
I learnt that there is another such motion in the making to attempt to again dethrone a democratically elected leader of the PNCR.
But, like what happened in 2000, history will repeat itself, since the members of the party have long come to understand these people with their egotistically driven motives and their vendetta campaign.
I wish to caution those who feel compelled to join the bandwagon of destructors to be mindful of the inevitable consequences of these actions.
The Peoples National Congress Reform (PNCR) is bigger than any of us. Let us focus on dealing with this corrupt Jagdeo/ PPP/C regime.
Ian Williams
