Yesterday morning, the management of that organization injected an undisclosed sum towards the tournament at a simple ceremony at the organization’s Lombard Street offices. In handing over the sponsorship package, Managing Director, Nazar Mohamed expressed pleasure to be associated with the competition.
He reminded the organizers of his days as a member of the Stabroek Market Warrior Sports Club, some thirty years ago. Coordinator of the competition, O’Neil Durant, thanked Mr. Mohammed even as he appealed for further assistance from the corporate community.
The action gets underway at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on August 7 next and culminates on the 28th. Ten markets from around the city and further afield will compete in this year’s edition in an attempt to dethrone Bourda Market who are the reigning champion.
