The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GT&T) yesterday played their part in keeping the National swimming team above water as they prepare to participate in the swim meets of this year’s Central American and Caribbean (CAC) in Porto Rico.
Secretary of the Guyana Amateur Swimming Association (GASA) Dr Karen Pilgrim told Kaieteur News that the $100,000 donated by GT&T would assist GASA to send a three-member team and two officials to the games.
Pilgrim said that it will cost each person US$1,721 for the trip to be possible and added that the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) has pledged to contribute half the cost of each member of the Guyana Swimming team.
Pilgrim explained that in pecking order, the three Guyanese Swimmers are Jessica Stephenson, Niall Roberts and Fabian Binns. She is hoping that they all can make the trip as the young swimmers aim to bring glory to their country.
