Dear Editor,
Can you kindly inquire from the relevant entities when they will complete the installation of the lights along the West Coast Demerara roadway?
If by chance they have run out of the lamps, my suggestion to them is to relocate some of the ones which are already up on poles to the Crane to Wallers Delight stretch of road. Also they can dim the lamps for it’s a waste of time having the roads awash with lights, the vehicles with their bright lights and sometimes illegal HID lights which gives some drivers the urge to speed for vision ahead has increased.
The lights on the poles are so bright and near to each other that my house is very bright in the night even though my own lights are turned off. Thieves do not have to bring flashlights when they come visiting in the nights thanks to the street lights.
Secondly, the contractor did a horrible job, for the lights are all out of line, maybe they took their point of reference from the road markings which themself leave much to be desired. Mind you, the idea and intention of putting up street lights was a good one but job was not well done. Majeed Hamid
