Police last night set up roadblocks on the East Bank of Demerara in an attempt to apprehend the occupants of a white station wagon, HB 7565, who had robbed a passenger in the vicinity of Houston.
The victim, identified as Rohan Singh, was attacked and robbed by the driver, a male passenger and a female accomplice after he had travelled in the vehicle.
According to reports Singh was travelling in the taxi
with the other occupants when he directed the driver to stop in the vicinity of Gafoors Limited near Houston.
But as he was about to pay his fare, the driver and the two passengers attacked Singh, relieving him of a gold band and all the money he was carrying.
Singh reported the matter to the police who quickly set up roadblocks and sent out an all-stations report.
However, the suspects had still not been apprehended at press time.
