Dear Editor,
I am a regular reader of Kaieteur News and I would like to commend you for your persistent efforts in highlighting and capturing some of the criminal elements that continue to plague our society.
The killings of innocent people have become the norm in Guyana. Today I feel compelled to write on the brutal, cold blooded killing of Bomeshwar Sukdeo (Taxi Driver) called Anil whose life was suddenly snuffed out during the period January 19-27 2010.
Whoever is responsible schemed to kill and steal the car Sukdeo was driving simply because they wanted a wagon — a wagon that was not even worth more than $2 million. Anil’s life was undoubtedly worth more than a wagon (a piece of metal) to the people that loved him; his three children are without a father, his mother without a son, his wife without her husband. His brothers, sisters and other relatives and friends who loved him are overwhelmed by grief by this ghastly act.
On January 27th when the burnt remains of Bomeshwar Sukdeo were discovered on the Mocha Acarda Access Road, the lights went out of his children eyes, relatives and friends, as their hopes of finding their loved one alive and well were shattered. Who are these people? Don’t they have families — mother, sons and don’t they have a heart? What kind of monsters can conspire to kill and steal? Sadly, in our society this is very normal.
The children, families and friends of Sukdeo are now living with a void that can never be filled.
Nothing can bring him back to us but we hope that justice will be served for Sukdeo’s children and his family; we hope that these children can find it possible somewhere in the future to have faith again in humanity.
The case has been called at the Providence Magistrate Court three times since Sukdeo’s remains were laid to rest. We the family of Bomeshwar Sukdeo await the actions by the Public Prosecution office as the court proceeding is still ongoing. We want justice for our loved one because this was not his fate. He was a good man, flambouyant, full of life; he loved his children and loved people.
