Two men accused of robbing an Esso Gas station on April 5, were yesterday remanded to prison by Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton.
The men, Sarwan Caesar, 33, and Loris Mussenden, 22, allegedly used handguns to rob Cindy Dhanraj of $3M and US$2000 property of the Esso Gas Station. A second charge stated that the men on the same date robbed Ramnarine Fogu of one gold chain and other articles valued at $34,000.
They pleaded not guilty to both charges. The accused were represented by attorneys at law Nigel Hughes and Patrice Henry.
The lawyers in their bail applications stressed the fact that both clients are not flight risks and are gainfully employed.
The court was told that Caesar was a labourer and a father of five, while Mussenden was a taxi driver.
The lawyers requested bail in a reasonable sum for their clients. However the prosecution objected.
Bail was denied. The two men are expected to make another court appearance on April 20.
