Sookdeo slams ton as GCC beat GDF
Former National under-19 left-hander Jeetendra Sookdeo came out with all guns blazing against the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) on Sunday to spur GCC to a comprehensive 157-run victory in their Haier Cup 2nd division 40-over cricket match at the GDF ground.
Sookdeo hammered 19 fours and four sixes in his entertaining 148 and got support from Demerara under-19 player Clevon Hyman, who made 25 with a six and two fours as GCC made 246-6 off their allotted 40 overs.
Claude Campbell took 2-31 for the soldiers who were bowled out for 89 in 26 overs despite a fighting 38 from Sherwin McCalmond.
Parmanand Ramkissoon took 4-15 and got back up from left-arm spinner Trevon France (4-23) and off-spinner Delon Fernandes (2-12) as GCC marched to an emphatic win.
