17- year-old Donovan Washington wins Regatta Road Race

14-year-old Melini Gonsalves is top female
The youths in Bartica dominated this year’s Bartica Regatta road race which took place yesterday and attracted a total of 22 starters including 9 females.
Taking the top spot overall was 17 year-old Donovan Washington followed by 16 year-old Tion Hendricks and another 16 year-old, Alexto Chappell.
The first female to cross the line was 14 yea-old Melini Gonsalves ahead of 13 year-old Melina Spencer and 15 year-old Leisa Lissone.
The youngest male competitor was 6 year-old Collin Williams while the youngest female was 8 year-old Jasmine Williams.
Fifty-five year old Ivelaw Lovell was the oldest male athlete with 76 year-old Elaine Stephens taking similar honours among the ladies.
River Swim from Kaow Island to Bartica
This year’s winner turned out to be Kelvin May who out swam Dorrin Andries in exciting fashion, Jason King copped the 3rd place. Shellyann De Ambrose was the top female swimmer. Cash prizes and trophies will be presented to the top performers.
