Dear Editor,
In reference to a letter by Kamal Ramkarran written on the 10th March, I would like to say that Mr. Ralph Ramkarran, his father, in his original statements, did infer positive feelings about actual registration of Guyanese voters from Anguilla to Timbuktu.
His dispensation was clearly bent in the direction of registering overseas voters. Read his original statement.
Kamal also talks about a “constitutional right being a constitutional right whether we want it to be so or not” and he’s correct. Therefore, since he claims that his father never wanted to infer that he’s for overseas voting then since he wants to be President of Guyana, let him take the lead, as a big lawyer at Cameron and Shepherd, to move a constitutional amendment to the courts deleting overseas voting from the constitution, since he is the one who brought it up in the first place.
Let Ralph Ramkarran show this nation that he is made of sterner stuff than just talk and let him show leadership in his party by convincing his “comrades” why we need to delete this damned overseas voting from, not only the constitution, but our minds. Kamal, remember that a jackass is a jackass, but a zebra can be painted one colour and he would be looking like a jackass – so don’t confuse a zebra with a jackass; the problem we have here in this country, is that a lot of our politicians are zebras in camouflage.
