A 15-year-old Grove resident who had the brilliant idea to forge a Scratch ticket will know his fate in another two weeks.
The youth was last week remanded into the custody of the police by a City Magistrate, who has requested a probation report.
According to the police, the youth had successfully obtained cash on a forged scratch ticket but attempting it a second time proved his downfall. Kaieteur News understands that the youth expertly removed several digits from a scratch ticket and pasted them unto another to make it appear as a winning combination.
He redeemed the ticket for several thousand dollars at a scratch dealer on the East Bank of Demerara.
When the dealer tried to reclaim his money from the lotto office he found that he had been duped. He took the loss in stride but was sure that the youth would return.
Sure as night turns to day the youth returned to the dealer to make a claim on another forged scratch ticket but this time his luck ran out. He was promptly detained and subsequently handed over to the police.
