– Haynes Foundation
The Haynes Foundation has described 2009 as a quiet but productive year. The foundation is a New Jersey Nonprofit 501(c)(3) Corporation that is devoted towards the development of education, sports and humanity that enrich the lives of Guyanese student-athletes, by providing life skills development and opportunities to further their educational development through education, sports and healthy living.
The foundation adopted a universal approach to combat the ever growing social issues in Guyana. The foundation fosters multiple programs from humanitarian relief to extensive educational assistance to Guyana’s children.
During the 2009 fiscal year, Haynes Foundation (HF) had a quiet but productive year. Their collaboration with several organizations has immensely propelled the vision of the Haynes Foundation.
Partnerships
Soles4Souls a Nashville, USA based charity that collects shoes from the warehouses of footwear companies and the closets of people like you. The charity distributes these shoes free of charge to people in need, regardless of race, religion, class, or any other criteria.
Food For The Poor Inc (Guyana) that provides lifesaving nutrition to children through Nutritional Enhancement Programs, builds houses for families in need of shelter, supports orphanages and homes for the elderly, and provides medical care and supplies to hospitals and clinics.
South Carolina Lady All Stars a Greenville SC women’s semi professional basketball club and Coach Larry Davis (Assistant Head Coach – Sr. Men Basketball 2007), which promotes healthy living through sports and fitness.
Programmes
The Haynes Foundation in the aid of giving the less fortunate a hope for a better tomorrow secured one hundred and forty (140) pairs of shoes from Sole4Souls and distributed them to the disadvantaged and less fortunate women and children of Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. Food For The Poor Inc (Guyana) helped with the distribution of the shoes to the Families.
In efforts to strengthen our support as advocates for quality education, the Foundation partnered once again with the Philadelphia Chapter of the Pinochle Bugs Social Civic Club, Inc. to secure valuable school supplies (Notebooks, Pens, Pencils, Crayons, Backpacks, etc.) to be distributed to the Port Mourant Training Center and the surrounding primary schools of Port Mourant. One hundred and sixty (160) paperback textbooks (Integrated Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Grammar, Social Studies and Technical Drawing) and sixty (60) digital textbooks (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Fitter Machinist) were also donated to the Port Mourant Training Centre.
In its inaugural mission trip to Guyana South Carolina Lady All Stars and Coach Larry Davis further enhanced to necessity for sports in the schools and the community by raising the awareness regular exercise and the fellowship of giving back to the community on their mission trip to Georgetown and Linden where basketball camps delivered valuable training to both coaches and players.
