Dear Editor,
We need to congratulate the President, Minister of Human Services and Social Security and their front organisation MEN for a good public relations stunt by bringing with taxpayers’ money, the renowned and respected Dr Myles Munroe to Guyana.
But allow me three short comments:
1 – A man or Dr Myles Munroe stature, did not need State sponsorship – elsewhere he draws huge crowds
2 – Elsewhere people believe that example is better than precept. Burke once said, “Example is the school of mankind, and they will learn at no other”.
Given this truism, how could certain media display on its front page sitting with Dr Munroe, the man who put on a fake illegal marriage and was unkind to his purported spouse.
We all know the story, yet we have that same leader and his colleagues talking against domestic violence and the importance of family.
Munroe said, “Men should he cultivators not abusers” yet our chief leader is an abuser, is suppose to set the example. Was Miss Varshni Singh not truthful when she alleged abuse by the person on the front page with Dr. Munroe?
Finally, the height of hypocrisy and dishonesty, President Jagdeo says “young boys must not fall prey to drug dealers.” Yet under his watch we had the biggest drug dealer, clearly supported or facilitated by the government he leads.
Operating with impunity, I hope Dr Munroe and all those pastors, who were roped in can understand.
This mass deceit will not help morally our men and our county.
God give us good, clean, morally sound men to lead us. Nigel Bacchus
