Senior & Junior Chess Tournament starts next Saturday

The Trophy Stall of Bourda Market/City Mall-sponsored Tournament will signal the start of the Guyana Chess Federation (GCF) year of activities on Saturday, January 23, at the Keishar’s Sports Club on Camp and Hadfield Street, Georgetown.
The tournament will be played under the Swiss format and consist of seven rounds with a time limit of three hours per game.
The first round is set to commence at16:30 hours with registration beginning from 15:00 hrs.
Rounds two and three will be played the following day starting at 10:00 hrs, while rounds four and five are scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday respectively beginning from 17:00 hours each day.
The remaining two rounds will conclude on Sunday, January 31 from 10:00 hours.
Registration fee for non-members senior is $800, while members will only be charged $300. The fee for the juniors will be $600 for non-members and $200 for members.
The GCF is urging all members to update their membership for the 2010 calendar year.
Membership fee for seniors is $2,000, while the juniors are $1,000.
Meanwhile, proprietor of Trophy Stall, Ramesh Sunich has promised to make the event an annual one.
