Eight matches, including the grand finale, will be played at the Banks DIH ground Thirst Park under flood lights as the inaugural Banks Power Stout 6-over Tape ball cricket competition concludes on Saturday.
With pre-tournament favorites Dina’s Bravados suffering an upset win in the quarter-finals against East Bank side Craig Old Road All Stars, city side Trophy Stall, one of 3 teams already qualified for the semis, are now favored to take the title and $100,000 first prise on Saturday.
The Runner-up will collect $25,000 and a trophy and East Coast team Gas X1, Craig Old Road Stars and the Trophy Stall, spearheaded by Guyana first-class all-rounder Chris Barnwell, are the teams already in the ‘final four’ of the tournament which commenced last October and attracted 36 teams.
The first match on Saturday is scheduled to start at 13:00hrs with Bell West All Stars facing off against Rebel United.
Patriots then battle Straspey Warriors from 14:00hrs while Wales take on Kriss X1 ‘B’ from 15:00hrs.
From 16:00hrs the winner of the first match plays the winner of the 2nd match before the winner of the 3rd game oppose the winner of the day’s 4th encounter.
Craig Old Road Star and Trophy Stall take on each other from 18:00hrs in the 1st semi-final before Gas X1 take on the winner of the 5th match of the day in the 2nd semi-final from 19:00hrs.The final is fixed for 20:00hrs and admission to the venue is free. (S Devers)
