LIVINGSTON – A woman who is a resident alien from Guyana and has been living in Queens, NY, has been charged with identity theft in the first degree in connection with a Columbia County woman.
State Police at Livingston said a Greenport woman had trouble applying for a mortgage and that’s when State Police at Livingston learned that Noreen Perry had been using the woman’s Social Security number since 1988. She had purchased it in New York City for $100.
In 2002, Perry was able to obtain a $300,000 mortgage for the home in which she presently lives.
She was arrested in New York City and turned over to Livingston BCI. She was arraigned and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond pending further court action. (www.midhudsonnews.com)
