Dear Editor,
This problem continues to plague our society and communities. I am referring to the playing of music loudly and disrupting public peace.
I wish to bring to your attention one of the many “The Dutty Friday” dances in Albouystown. As I recalled in one of your dailies you did a small article highlighting the dissatisfaction of the citizens to this same situation.
I commend you for that and it was stopped for a short while. However, over the last few weeks it started back and despite several calls and reports to the police it proved futile.
The organisers intimidate residents and make enquires of who reported to the police. This noise affects a whole community and they don’t care anything. The youths are seen from the start to the end, gambling, drinking and smoking marijuana.
What is even more pathetic is the fact when people call the police stations they are always sending patrols. Indeed when they arrive it is in the early hours of the morning.
Sadly when they try to stop the dance, the DJs make a mockery out of them because some ‘big one’ already given approval.
I am aware that people even contacted your newspaper to do a follow up story to this problem; I have not seen anything yet. I do hope that you understand our plight and trust that you would further highlight this situation.
I do hope the authorities can do something to stamp out these public noise nuisances. Concerned Citizen
